Alanna Fennell
Makeup & Hair
(she/they)
Alanna started playing with hair and makeup at a young age, and has always been compelled by its ability to transform the outside and the inside. She loves that it can be used as a form of armour as well as a doorway to authenticity and vulnerability.
Alanna is a multi-faceted artist who specializes in polished and natural make up for all skin tones, as well as creating colourful, playful designs. Since starting her professional career, and has quickly honed her style and skill, working with clients like Jenny Bird, Holt Renfrew, Horses Atelier, SSENSE, KT by Knix, VSP Consignment, Corey Moranis, Local Woman, Champion, TD Canada Trust, Hersheys Canada, Sephora Canada, and many more. She has had the pleasure of collaborating with musicians and artists like Aysanabee, Alvvays, Zoon, Katie Tupper, Georgia Harmer, Ramona Vee, R. Flex, New Ho Queen, and Ceréna to bring their artistic visions to life. As well as actors like Dylan Gelula, D'Pharoah Woon-A-Tai, Dani Kind, Jana Morrison, Niamh Wilson, and Mouna Traoré.
Her work has been nominated in the Berlin Fashion Film Festival for Best Hair & Make Up (for Corey Moranis' campaign), and has appeared in Fashion Magazine, Hypebeast, Sicky Mag, i-D, i-D Korea, Pitchfork, The Kit, Toronto Star, The Globe & Mail, Huf Magazine, Pure Luxury Magazine, Range Magazine (and more), and has been broadcast in Dundas Square.
In 2022, Alanna was honored by the Canadian Arts & Fashion Awards (CAFA) on the inaugural NewGen List honoring the innovation and brilliance of Canada's inspiring, emerging trailblazers across multiple creative disciplines from around the country. She is excited to work with artists and clients who are telling stories that break open our definitions of beauty, of courage, and of who matters. She is driven to create new and expansive representations of queer and Asian femmes and other communities that have so many more stories ready to be told. But mostly, she is looking for ways to infuse our collective experience with a little more joy and play.
She loves to be a part of the team, and always brings positive energy and creativity to her collaborators behind and in front of the lens.
